Hello!
If you are looking for a provider who listens and cares about their clients, then look no further. I would love to partner with you on your journey towards healing and wellness. While medications are helpful in many cases, I don’t believe in just “pushing pills” on to people. Using evidence-based guidelines and a holistic approach, I will help you achieve optimal mental health. I look forward to working with you soon.
**PLEASE NOTE: DUE TO RESTRICTIONS IN GA, I DO NOT PRESCRIBE ADHD STIMULANTS.**
About Me.
My name is Shikira. I’m a psychiatric/mental health nurse practitioner with a doctorate degree in nursing practice. I’m originally from Ohio. I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, sports, travel, community service activities, and my beloved fur babies. My experience is in medical/surgical nursing, brief counseling, and child/adolescent/adult mental health care. I have worked in inpatient, outpatient, partial hospitalization, and residential treatment settings throughout my 20+ years in healthcare. I believe my clients, their families, and I are a team working together for wellness. One of my greatest joys is seeing people happy and thriving.
What to Expect.
During your first session (60 minutes), I will ask a lot of questions and complete a health history. You should expect to have an understanding of your diagnosis. We will also discuss treatment options, referral options (if needed), a safety plan (if needed), and a treatment plan. Typically a 4 week follow-up appointment (30 minutes) is recommended to briefly check in to discuss progress, changes, or further treatment needs. Once you reach a point of stability, follow-up appointments are spaced out anywhere from 3-6 months according to your preference. My clients are encouraged to reach out if they are needing an earlier appointment. I will make time for you.
